Local Attorney is seeking office of magisterial district judge 49-3-05

STATE COLLEGE, PA:  State College Attorney Jeffrey S. Helffrich announced that he is seeking the office of Magisterial District Judge 49-3-05—the district which roughly covers the western part of the State College Borough and Penn State’s University Park campus.

“State College is a wonderful community to live, work, get an education, and raise a family,” said Helffrich.  “Winning this election will allow me to do my part to help maintain that.”

Helffrich graduated with distinction from Penn State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership, and went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Penn State Dickinson School of Law.

During his final year at law school, Jeff was a certified legal intern at the Centre County District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted several summary appeals and was lead attorney in a DUI jury trial.  After graduation, he worked at the Centre County Court of Common Pleas as a Judicial Law Clerk.  Currently, Helffrich is an associate at Masorti & Donaldson, P.C., where he practices criminal and family law.

“Being a prosecutor, a judicial law clerk, and now a family law and defense attorney gives me a unique perspective on our local judicial system.”  Helffrich said.  “This perspective will prove to be invaluable as a magisterial district judge.”

The office of Magisterial District Judge 49-3-05 was held by the Honorable Jonathan D. Grine, until he was elected Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.  Helffrich stated that he plans to run on both the Democratic and Republican ballots for the May 21, 2013 Primary Election.
