On Saturday, May 31, join the celebration of the conservation easement held by ClearWater Conservancy at Kettle Run Farm, 120 Kettle Run Lane, Spring Mills. In December 2007, Katherine Alden donated a conservation easement to ClearWater Conservancy, protecting 112 acres of forest, fields, and wetlands. The property contains numerous seeps and nearly one-half mile of Kettle Run. Because native lupine (Lupinus perennis) were found on the property, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy designated Kettle Run Farm a Biological Diversity Area, as described in the Centre County Natural Heritage Inventory 2002. Our celebration begins at noon and goes to 3 PM+. Enjoy the food (potluck – bring a favorite treat to share). Then, join us for guided walks, first, to see the lupine and, after, to stroll along the scenic stream-side trail meandering upward into the “Kettle.” Bring friends to experience the beauty of this property and learn how ClearWater Conservancy works with private landowners to protect our precious natural resources.
